A Kingston Hill landlord who failed to ensure the safety of her tenants is more than £5,000 out of pocket after being convicted of breaching rules governing housing in multiple occupation.
Southampton City Council has brought a successful action against a rogue landlord who has been fined £35,000 for six offences relating to poor housing conditions and management of a house in multiple occupation (HMO) (Photos on Flickr).
Enforcement squads are now scouring Newham’s streets for private rented properties that have not been licensed – with criminal landlords facing fines of up to £20,000 per property.
This case relates to an appeal against the revocation of an HMO License and an appeal against an IMO issued by Chesterfield Borough Council. The Panel confirmed the revocation and the IMO.
A landlord had a fine of £12,500 upheld after he abandoned an appeal against his conviction for failing to license a house in multiple occupation (HMO).
