Environmental health officers give hotel bosses the green light after an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease reports Osborne Richardson.

The Landmark Hotel in Dundee was closed for a brief period when a guest contracted the disease after using the hotel and spa swimming pool.

Health officials also revealed that 134 people reported feeling unwell after the bacteria was discovered.

Staff from NHS Tayside believe that many of the workers and guests taken ill were likely to be suffering from Pontiac Fever, which can be contracted from the same bacteria, BBC News reports.

Consultant Dr Finn Romanes revealed that the NHS will continue to work closely with the hotel management team throughout the ongoing investigation.

He said: “Dundee City Council environmental health officers have confirmed today that all required control measures have been taken and the leisure club can now be re-opened for use.”

Meanwhile, health inspectors in the USA have revealed the discovery of Legionella bacteria in a whirlpool in the Playboy mansion.

Over 200 people reportedly fell ill after attending a party at the mansion to mark the end of the DOMAINFest Global Conference in February.
