Recent gas explosions at developments in Cheshire and London have been linked to theft of copper piping forming part of the heating infrastructure report 24dash.com.

In February, Wandsworth Council said that an investigation into an explosion at a Battersea housing block in January had revealed that thieves were responsible for causing the blast, while last month, police said they believed an explosion which ripped through a block of flats in Runcorn was caused when copper piping was stolen from the building.
