A welding company has been fined £4,000 after one of its workers sustained serious injuries when he fell off a barn roof on to a grain bucket.
IOSH reported that the unnamed worker, who was employed by Nottinghamshire-based IFT Services, was replacing cement roof sheets on an outbuilding at Clipstone Park Farm, Cavendish Lodge, Mansfield, when he fell four to five metres onto the bucket on 20 November 2008.
Mansfield magistrates were told that the worker suffered five broken vertebrae, a fractured skull and internal bleeding as a result of the fall. He has since left the firm.
