A Lincolnshire homeowner has been fined £135 for allowing rogue “scrap men” to take his rubbish away.
This is Lincolnshire reported that Martin Young 32, of Archer Road, Branston, allowed two men he did not know to take away bags of rubbish from his house.
Items including a bin, a black bin bag of general waste, some old toys and cardboard waste were later found by officers from North Kesteven District Council along a highway verge of a single track road at Branston Moor near Lincoln.
North Kesteven District Council prosecuted Mr Young. He pleaded guilty to an offence under section 34 (2A) Environmental Protection Act 1990 for failing to make reasonable checks to ensure his waste was to be transferred to an authorised person.
He was ordered to pay £130 towards North Kesteven District Council’s costs for removing the waste, fined £135 and ordered to pay £15 towards a victims’ surcharge.
