A business owner from Colchester has been fined £10,000 for operating an unauthorised waste operation.

Housing: Landlords fined £5,250 for failing to license flats
A husband and wife were hit with a bill of more than £5,800 today for renting out properties illegally.
Housing: Leeds landlord fined £14,000 for ignoring warnings
A landlord who continually disregarded the safety of his tenants and failed to licence his properties has been prosecuted and fined £14,000.
Housing: Labour PM – Register need to deal with amateur landlords
Labour MP Phil Wilson is calling for a professional register of private landlords. While proposing his bill he described the vast majority of private landlords as ‘amateurs without the skills and wherewithal to deal with being a private landlord’.
Housing: Confirmed – landlords responsible for plastering
The Court of Appeal has confirmed that landlords are responsible for repairing damaged wall plaster. This matter was recently considered in the case of Grand v Gill.
Housing: Landlords forced out of housing benefit market
A survey by the National Landlords Association (NLA) has found more than half of private residential landlords are planning to reduce the number of properties they let to tenants on housing benefits.
