On August 1 last year Environmental Health Officers discovered a large amount of household waste, including carpets, furniture, doors and decorating materials, in Jubilee Nature Reserve, Milnrow Road , Shaw.
Evidence found at the scene was traced to the address of Muminul Haque, of Eastway, Shaw.
The 43-year-old admitted passing on waste from his house refurbishment to an unknown man for £150 without taking any measures to prevent the waste being tipped and failing to ensure he was a licensed waste carrier.
Haque gave officers a telephone number of the man who had disposed of the rubbish but he could not be traced.
On March 29 Haque appeared at Oldham Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to a failure of care under the Environmental Protection Act.
He was fined £95 and ordered to pay costs of £250 with a victim surcharge of £15.
Elaine McLean , Oldham Council’s Executive Director for Economy, Place and Skills, said: “If you are paying someone to dispose of your waste you must check they are a reputable trader and have the correct licence.”
