Operational Health & Safety lead | Ware, Hertfordshire

Job Description: Johnson Controls has an exciting opportunity for an Operational Health & Safety lead to join their team based in Ware. The successful candidate will be working as a member of the Operational Team, the Site Health and Safety Lead will help develop and manage HS systems and processes on the client sites. The main duties will include: Compliance with CHESS Requirements – ensuring all monthly data is added to CHESS by the site administrator, ensuring the data is correct, management of the Sypol System, HS Processes and Systems working with the HS central team, Site Inspections, monthly audits, ensuring that Johnson Controls HS manuals are in place and up to date, ensure Safety Representatives meetings take place and are well represented, monitor and ensure closure of actions from site audits, conduct Johnson Controls monthly Level 1 audits for Safety, act as a point of contact for the HS team on site, assist the site with audit preparation, ensure correct representation, accident/incident investigation, preparation of site statistics for HS, ensuring site objectives are set on an annual basis and complied with. The Site HS Lead will be self motivated, enthusiastic, shows initiatives and drive and respond well to a challenging and varied role. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are essential along with the experience of customer care.

Job Description: A Health and Safety Manager is required to work on a high profile, high budget project (£Billion) within the Energy and renewable sector to provide expert consultancy services during the development phase of the project.

Role:

The role is an interim 6 month placement to undertake the following activities:

  • Advise the Project Board on all matters relating to Health & Safety.
  • Act as the lead CDM Co-ordinator for the project.
  • Provide monthly HEALTH AND SAFETY reports to the Project Management Committee
  • Provide a report on the proposed HEALTH AND SAFETY Management structure for the project for the remainder of the Development period and moving into the Construction Period.

Health & Safety/Environment Officer – Thomas Cook

Salary Range: £35,000 – £38,000
To lead the effective implementation of the company’s Health & Safety management system. Act as Company focal point and coordinator for sustainability, the environment and ISO 14001
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • To monitor health & safety legislation and standards. Advise managers on measures to be taken to ensure compliance. Provide practical advice and guidance regarding Health & Safety legal requirements and best practice.
  • Development of a Health & Safety Management System that satisfies the joint requirements of EASA, CAA and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
  • Provide support to Managers in carrying out Health & Safety risk assessments
  • Support Line Managers to investigate accidents and near misses – report findings and recommendations to ensure effective corrective, preventative and closure actions.
  • Monitor and retain accident and investigation reports – provide analysis and feedback reports to the business.
  • Represent the company at group Health & Safety meetings and other relevant forums and committees as required.
  • Liaise with enforcing authorities (CAA/HSE) and other external agencies.
  • Handle employer’s liability claims and provide evidence and information to insurers in support of claims.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Maintain and continually develop the organisations Safety System – including auditing and the establishment of relevant Health & Safety Committees.
  • Provision, and delivery where necessary, of health & safety training. Sourcing of external training providers where training cannot be carried out internally.
  • Carry out COSHH assessments and maintain the SYPOL database
  • To undertake any other reasonable and ad-hoc duties as and when required
  • Maintain ISO14001 accreditation for the airline
  • Produce annual Airline specific Sustainability Report and  represent the airline on Sustainability Working groups
  • Introduce on-board waste recycling to all UK airports, work with Group airlines to introduce to available overseas airports.
