Stafford magistrates were told Katie Wilson was given a fixed penalty when she discarded the cigarette butt in the town’s Gaolgate Street. But when she didn’t pay the £75 fine she was summoned to appear at court.
Wilson, 19, of Silkmore Lane, Stafford did not appear before the magistrates and was found guilty in her absence of littering, in July. Magistrates last week (Wednesday 16 January) gave her a £200 fine and ordered her to pay £340 costs and a victim surcharge of £15.
