B. G. Betterspoons Limited was also ordered to pay £1,500 costs to Pembrokeshire County Council which brought the case.
The court was told that an officer from the Council’s Public Protection Division visited the restaurant in Cross Square in June last year.
As well as revealing the lack of an appropriate food safety management system, the inspection found evidence of food not being protected against contamination.
The officer also discovered that food handlers had not been adequately supervised, instructed and/or trained.
After the hearing the County Council Cabinet Member for Environmental and Regulatory Services, Councillor Huw George, said: “This case again highlights the importance of food businesses establishing an effective food safety management system, which has been properly communicated to, understood and implemented by food handlers at all levels.
“In premises such as this, where raw meats are handled alongside ready to eat food, it is especially important that businesses have considered and introduced the additional safeguards required to protect food from the serious risk presented by E.coli 0157 cross-contamination.
Councillor George added: “While we could not excuse the breaches identified at the premises last June, credit has to be given to the business for co-operating with the Council in dealing promptly with the highlighted risks.
“I am pleased to report that at the follow-up inspection in January this year, standards were being maintained and the premises awarded a score of 5 under the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.”
