Mrs Vijesna Rohit of Mexborough Drive, Leeds, was prosecuted in her absence at Hull Magistrates Court on Friday 5 April.
Residents told the council’s neighbour hood nuisance team their concerns about a large amount of rubbish that was piled up at the rear of an empty property Crossland Avenue, Holland Street, Hull.
Attempts were made to contact Mrs Rohit which were unsuccessful which resulted in Hull City Council carrying out clearance work in default.
Mrs Rohit was prosecuted for failing to comply with a Notice service under Section 80 Environmental Protection Act 1990. She was fined £200, costs of £596 and a victim surcharge of £20, totalling £816.
Councillor John Hewitt, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods and Communities, commented:
“Landlords regardless of where they are based should take responsibility and pride for their properties.
“It is always disappointing when landlords fail to do so, which results in a prosecution. It is thanks to the vigilance and care of the local community that helped to bring this matter to our attention and enabled us to take the necessary action.”
