A man from Hessle has been prosecuted by Hull City Council for flytipping on council-owned land.

Ryan Gawthorpe, aged 22 of 44 Barnetby Road, Hessle was prosecuted on Friday 5 July at Hull Magistrates Court under section 2(1) (b) of the Refuse Disposal Amenity Act 1978 having pleaded guilty by post.

Mr Gawthorpe was ordered to pay a £250 fine, £250 costs and £25 victim surcharge.

The incident took place on 20 March when Mr Gawthorpe was witnessed by a member of the public disposing of items from his vehicle onto council owned land at Kesteven Way, Hull.

Mr Gawthorpe was interviewed by the Neighbourhood Nuisance Team and admitted the offence fully under caution.

Jamie Cass, Neighbourhood Nuisance Officer said:

“We are indebted to witness in this instance in coming forward and offering their assistance and support to this investigation. We hope that this may encourage other residents in a similar situation to assist with our investigations.
