Ellesmere Port’s ‘Delight’ takeaway failed to live up to its name when Cheshire West and Chester Council food safety officers paid a visit.

For the council officers discovered evidence of rodent activity which had been present for some time – without any action by professional services to eradicate the pests.
They also found poor standards of cleanliness and some structural defects to the ceiling at the premises in Rossmore Road West.
Owner, Mr Hasan Gazi, of Woodfield House, Chester, pleaded guilty to four charges under the Food Hygiene Regulations, when he appeared at West Cheshire Magistrates Court, in Chester.
Mr Gazi was given a conditional discharge but ordered to pay £1,000 in costs.
The court heard that the owner had voluntarily agreed to close his business immediately to complete a thorough ‘deep clean’.
A professional pest company was allowed to examine the premises and implement the necessary eradication programme.
Subsequent monitoring visits to the ‘Delight’ were carried out by food safety officers to ensure that improvements were maintained and that the business complied with the regulations.
A Council spokesman said: “Food businesses must comply with the regulations and seek professional help and advice when necessary. This authority will treat any failure to meet standards – and consequently put the general public’s health at risk – very seriously indeed.”
