Mr. Mahabubar Rahman trading as the Taste of India at 22 Yarm Road pleaded guilty in Darlington Magistrates Court, on 4 December 2013, to four specimen food hygiene offences.

The offences were:
1. Premises not kept clean
2. Equipment not kept clean
3. Food handlers not wearing suitable protective overclothing
4. Not implementing a food safety management system.
He was fined £250 for offence 1,2 and 4 and £150 for offence 3, with a £25 Victim Surcharge. The Council was awarded costs of £287.50. He was ordered to pay the balance due (a total of £1212.50) at a rate of £100 per month.
The prosecution followed a visit made on the 6 August 2013 by an Environmental Health Officers investigating an anonymous complaint about the conditions at the premises and discovering unsatisfactory food hygiene standards.
