Housebrick Limited of Windus Road, London, were given the notice ordering them to make improvements and repairs to flats which they rented to tenants at 24 Westgate, Grantham, under section 30 of the Housing Act 2004.

The defendants did not attend court on Monday (15 April) when the case was heard and they have been ordered to pay a £1,000 fine and SKDC’s costs of £1,364.80.

SKDC’s Head of Environmental Services Mike Butler said: “We are pleased that the magistrates supported the decision of the district council.

“We always try to work with landlords to ensure that their properties meet minimum standards, but in some instances we have to take formal action where landlords do not co-operate.

“We hope that the decision of the court will assist the enforcing agencies to protect the public across the district in similar instances in the future.”
