The seizure was carried out following a breach of a noise abatement notice that was originally served on the council tenant in March.

Environmental Health Officers entered the property with a warrant issued by magistrates and used a locksmith to help them gain access to the property. A Police Officer attended and two Street Wardens assisted with removing and carrying the equipment away.

The equipment that was seized can be held for 28 days. If no prosecution proceedings are initiated within this period the owner can make an application to get it back. After six months, if an application to retrieve the equipment has not been made, the council can dispose of it.

Executive Member for Governance and Public Health, Councillor Bernard Sarson, said: “Any sort of persistent noise nuisance can really affect the quality of life of surrounding neighbours and we needed to take remedial action following the initial noise abatement notice served in spring. The removal of the noise making equipment can achieve the same result as a prosecution, and is a quicker and more efficient process.”
