Mrs Westwood was fined £50 with costs of £100.

The case is the first to come to court under Flintshire’s Operation Clean-Up Campaign.

Shotton is one of the areas being targeted under Operation Clean-Up, which is being run by Flintshire County Council.

As well as targeting fly tippers, Operation Clean-Up also includes littering, dog fouling and graffiti. A zero tolerance approach is being taken to these crimes, with culprits caught being issued with a Fixed Penalty Notices.

Ongoing patrols are also continuing in other areas across the county.

Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Waste and Recycling, said:

“This prosecution underlines our clear message to all residents that we will take a zero tolerance approach to this type of offence in the county. Dog fouling, littering, fly tipping and graffiti is anti-social and will not be tolerated. Operation Clean-Up is an ongoing campaign and this proves that our more strengthened, targeted approach is working.”

Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Bernie Attridge, said:

“I welcome this prosecution for fly tipping. This sends a clear message that Flintshire County Council is committed to catching people who don’t clean up and ignore the Law.”
