Operators of a composting site in Bury St Edmunds have been fined £20,000 for causing smells sometimes described as like ‘vomit, diarrhoea and dog excrement’.

Food Safety: HPA provides update on German E.coli outbreak
Cases of HUS in Germany have risen to 470, with nine reported deaths. German authorities have also reported 1,064 cases of bloody diarrhoea (VTEC or EHEC infection, caused by E. coli O104) related to the outbreak, with 4 deaths – bringing the total number of official reported deaths in Germany to 13.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is closely monitoring the recent outbreak of E.coli in Germany.
Food Safety: German E.coli outbreak – more than 200 cases & four killed (Updated)
Updated – The E.coli outbreak in Germany has now killed 14 people with more than 300 reported cases. It has been described as the worlds largest E.coli outbreak. Cucumbers imported from Spain may be the source.
