A Coventry man is counting the cost after the North Warwickshire Borough Council successfully prosecuted him for flytipping household waste in the North Warwickshire countryside.

Food Safety: Patisserie owner with previous conviction fined £2,701
A patisserie owner whose shop was found to be filthy by Environmental Health Officers pleaded guilty to five charges under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 and was fined £2,100 at West London Magistrates’ Court 0n Wednesday 17 August and ordered to pay costs of £2,701 and a £15 victim surcharge.
Food Safety: Infectious intestinal disease study published
According to new research published by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), nearly 17 million people suffer from stomach upsets in the UK every year, leading to about 11 million lost working days. The study, which is the biggest of its kind for more than 10 years, looked at the impact of all cases of infectious intestinal disease (IID)

Health & Safety: Man prosecuted for illegal gas work
A gas engineer from Willenhall has been prosecuted for illegally carrying out work at a house in Cannock.
Leslie Morgan, of Cedar Road, issued a gas safety certificate for an address in Cannock Road, Cannock, on 20 October 2010 after installing a boiler at the house despite not being a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Oxford City Council is to become the first authority in the country to enforce a controversial new planning regime which will force landlords to seek planning permission if they intend letting a small property to sharers.
Housing: Carbon monoxide trends report published
A report published by the Gas Safety Trust reveals that the risk to someone over 70 being fatally injured by Carbon Monoxide (CO) is now 5 times that of anyone younger. The shocking statistic was revealed in the Carbon Monoxide Trends Report, which provides a factual account of the trends relating to reportable CO incidents linked to natural gas usage in Great Britain between 1996 and 2010.

Unpaid 12-month training placement for two student EHOs. Structured training across all areas of environmental health departments to complete the ELP. Must have completed the second year of the BSc or the taught modules of the MSc degree. Begins end of September, finish dates flexible.
