The operators of a company in premises next to food additives manufacturer took action against the food additives company as a result of alleged nuisance from the escape of noxious odours. Their original action was dismissed but they appealed to the High Court. The High Court judgement has been released

Housing: Communities gain power to bring empty homes back into use
On the 20th September 2011, Communities Minister Andrew Stunell announced that community groups will be able to apply for Government cash to bring empty homes that blight neighbourhoods back into use.
Housing: July Buy-to-let index shows rents rise again
Rents rose for the sixth month in a row in July, to a new record high, according to the latest Buy‐to‐Let Index from LSL Property Services plc, which owns the UK’s largest lettings agent network, including national chains Your Move and Reeds Rains.

Public Health: HPA remind university students of meningitis and measles risk
Students are being reminded by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), about the importance of receiving the MMR and Men C vaccinations before they return to university campus, where outbreaks can occur. A leaflet is available on the HPA website, advising students on how to spot the early signs of these serious infections.
