The first results from the 2010‐11 English Housing Survey have been published. The report brings together initial findings on household trends and the housing stock. It reports on trends in tenure, household type, economic status, buying expectations of renters, overcrowding and under occupation, recent movers and mortgage difficulties. Key findings and the complete report are available here.
Tessa Shepperson from the Landlord Law Blog has provided an article that looks at a landlord’s rights to gain access to their property. Lock, Keys and Landlord Access can be found here.

Environmental Protection: Business receives community sentence and fine for flytipping
Owen Ayres, 24 years, of 73 Hartley Road in Luton was found guilty of flytipping in Frederick Street Passage in High Town by Luton Magistrates Court on 24 January.
Environmental Protection: Illegal waste burning convictions upheld after appeal
A property developer who was prosecuted and fined £2,000 for two offences of illegally burning large piles of waste in Tibshelf has seen both convictions upheld on appeal.

Food Safety: Meat company prosecuted by FSA for over-temperature meat
The Food Standards Agency has won a case in the Old Bailey, against a meat company that failed to make sure meat was kept chilled throughout the entire food chain. A C Hopkins (Taunton) Ltd was charged, and found guilty, of an offence under the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006.
Food Safety: Watford café owner to pay over £25,000 for hygiene offences
A Watford café owner has been successfully prosecuted by Watford Borough Council for seven offences of failing to manage food safety in his business and therefore putting the health of customers at risk.

Poundstretcher Ltd. was today (Tuesday 14 February) fined a total of £3,000, plus costs, after pleading guilty to a number of offences under the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978.

The first results from the 2010‐11 English Housing Survey were published on 09 February 2012. The EHS brings together the former DCLG housing surveys – the Survey of English Housing (SEH) and the English House Condition Survey (EHCS).
