At Luton Magistrates Court last Tuesday (3 July) Mr Azir Miah, owner of Al Haramain Foods Limited, Unit 4, Moreton Park Industrial Estate, Moreton Road, South Luton, was found guilty of 8 counts of breaching a noise abatement notice served by the Council.
Following complaints from a neighbour about excessive noise from refrigeration equipment, the Council served Al Haramain Foods Ltd with a Noise Abatement Notice. But the refrigeration equipment at Mr Miah’s premises continued to cause a noise nuisance day and night.
The court fined Mr Miah a total of £1320 and ordered him to pay £1515 costs – a total of £2835.
Cllr Mohammed Ashraf, portfolio holder for environmental health, said: “We always do everything we can to support and encourage local businesses operating within the law. But we do expect proprietors to act responsibly and to be mindful of the possible effect their business has on their neighbours.”
