Housing: Increasing number of tenants defending eviction cases

Landlord Action, a company specialising in tenant eviction, report that a rise in rent arrears cases has been followed by an increasing number of tenants defending eviction cases at court and appealing judges’ decisions. Defended cases have risen from 9% in 2010 to an all time high of 13%, so far in 2011.

New research reveals that one in six mobile phones in Britain is contaminated with faecal matter. Experts say the most likely reason for the potentially harmful bacteria festering on so many gadgets is people failing to wash their hands properly with soap after going to the toilet.

A further three confirmed cases of Legionnaires’ disease in people who have travelled to Corfu since August, has been identified by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). This brings the total to 12, and three possible cases with travel history to Corfu are under investigation.
