A rogue landlord who manages multiple properties in Nottingham has pleaded guilty to twenty offences (three for failing to licence and seventeen failures to manage houses in multiple occupation (HMOs)). The maximum fine that could have been applied for these offences was £145,000.
Adrian Chowns, HMO Enforcement Team Manager for Oxford City Council, appeared on BBC Radio 4’s PM Programme on 26th June. He discussed the conditions tenants are being subjected to in HMO`s and the issues facing Local Authorities when dealing with rogue landlords.
A man who converted his house into two flats without planning permission before renting them out for £1,500 per month has been ordered to pay £35,225.
