Housing: Landlord fined £35,000 for ‘inhumane’ living conditions

Faisal Khan failed to attend Luton Magistrates Court on 21 November where he was fined a record £35,000 for operating an unlicensed House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
Norwich Magistrates Court handed down a heavy fine to the man responsible for putting tenants at risk. Mr Abdul Bashir pleaded guilty to four charges relating to breaches to The Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (England) Regulations 2006.
A letting company has been fined £2000, ordered to repay about £6500 in rent – which they illegally collected – and charged with £4000 in costs. (Photo Gallery Below)
A private sector landlord has been fined £10,000 by city magistrates for renting an unsafe house in multiple occupation.
This decision relates to an Application for a Rent Repayment Order made by London Borough of Corydon for the recovery of Housing Benefit.
