Environmental Protection: Breach of Noise Abatement Order leads to fine and ASBO
On the 28th March 2013 at Merthyr Magistrates Court, Ria Jones, of 7 Lupin Close, Gurnos Estate, Merthyr Tydfil pleaded guilty to breaching a Noise Abatement Notice served by Merthyr Tydfil CBC Environmental Health Service. During the investigation Ms Jones had various electronic equipment seized by the Council.

Environmental Protection: Hendy man and Swansea company fined for waste offences
A Hendy man and Swansea company have been convicted in court for two waste offences. Peter Karl Davies and Purnell Construction Ltd pleaded guilty at Carmarthen Magistartes Court for carrying waste without a waste carriers licence and for failing to complete waste transfer notes.

Food Safety: Food Manufacturer Prosecuted For Hygiene Offences
A food manufacturing business in Tylorstown has been fined more than £1,600 for hygiene breaches following an investigation by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Environmental Health Officers.

Food Safety: Caerphilly food business operator prosecuted following council investigation
A Risca food business operator has been taken to court and fined following a council investigation that revealed the business failed to provide a hot water supply to its sink at the food premises.

Food Safety: Wycombe restaurant fined for cockroaches
A takeaway customer got more than they bargained for when they ordered a curry from the Radhuni Restaurant in Flackwell Heath and found a cockroach in the food. The concerned customer contacted the Council’s Environmental Health Department who investigated the local eaterie.

Food Safety: Croydon takeaway owner fined for keeping filthy yard
No power for fridges, lighting by candles and a refusal to allow inspection of the kitchens was the scene that greeted food safety officers when they visited a South Norwood takeaway following repeated warnings about the filthy conditions found on previous visits.

Housing: The Mobile Homes Act 2013 comes into force
A new licensing regime for park home sites that comes into force this week. New rights will give park home residents the protection they need from unscrupulous site owners, says Communities Secretary Eric Pickles.

Housing: Newham receives 30,000 applications for licensing scheme
Nearly 30,000 applications* have been made by private residential landlords to Newham Council.​ So far Newham has carried out 750 enforcement visits, issued 1200 warning letters, and handed out 50 cautions. Thirty prosecutions, at various stages of the legal process, have been pursued since the scheme started.

Housing: ‘Beds in sheds’ landlord fined after fire hospitalises two men
A landlord has been fined following a fire in an outbuilding that left two people in hospital. Ace Management, of Kings Avenue, Winchmore Hill, London, was ordered to pay £12,000 after admitting renting a house in Melfort Road, Thornton Heath, without being licensed to do so.

Housing: Successful prosecutions for Housing Act offences
Two companies and two managers of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) were fined a total of £27,000 and ordered to pay costs totalling £25,000 for offences in relation to two HMOs in Newport.

A new report published by Public Health England (PHE) shows that swimming in the River Thames can carry a risk of gastrointestinal illness.
