Food Safety: HPA Study shows poor hygiene practices at mobile food vendors

Research from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that food, water, chopping boards, cleaning cloths and security wristbands sampled from mobile and outdoor food vendors were contaminated with a range of bacteria including E.coli.

The Food Standards Agency has produced a summary of its research published in February and March 2013. The eight areas of research include an evaluation into reducing the shedding of E.coli in cattle in the UK, the safety of sous vide foods and new approaches for managing foodborne disease outbreaks.
