This case involves an Application for a Rent Repayment Order for 3 properties.
The Application was made by 5 Tenants from each property. The London panel awarded a total of £48,502.23 to all 15 Tenants.
Since the start of their new HMO Licensing Scheme Oxford City Council have received 1803 applications, with 1065 being received since the 1st January 2012. To put this into context, from 1st April 2006 to 23rd January 2011 they received a total of 658 applications.
A landlord has been found guilty of flouting housing regulations and fined more than £4000 following an investigation by Hillingdon Council.
Following a fatal fire on 29 April 2011 at 546 Coldhams Lane, the landlord Darius Valiulis of Neville Road Cambridge, was prosecuted by Cambridge City Council for breaches of the Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation Regulations 2006, and fined a total of £10,000 plus £6,000 costs. Mr Valiulis admitted that he owned another three rental properties, which have now been inspected by council officers.
This is an Appeal against a decision by Nottingham City Council to refuse to vary a licence. The Midland Panel refused the Appellant’s application to vary the existing HMO licence.
