A private landlord who failed to act upon a fire safety improvement notice issued by Islington Council has been fined £4,000 following a fire at the property in which the tenant narrowly escaped injury.

Norwich Magistrates Court handed down a heavy fine to the man responsible for putting tenants at risk. Mr Abdul Bashir pleaded guilty to four charges relating to breaches to The Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (England) Regulations 2006.
