Noise Nuisance App Launched
NoiseNuisance.org have just launched their first mobile phone application! The App, a collaborative effort by Encentre and Three Spires Acoustics, provides a useful logging tool for noise complainants and comes with a number of additional resources (Video Embedded).
Environmental Protection: Company & owner fined for noise nuisance
City of York Council has successfully prosecuted a company and owner of a public house in York for failing to comply with a noise abatement notice.
Environmental Protection: Section 82 – Statistics Update
Statistics from the Ministry of Justice have recently been obtained relating to statutory nuisance prosecutions. Some of the figures stand out, particularly in relation to the use of s.82 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. (Section 82 provides for persons aggrieved by a nuisance to apply for a noise abatement order directly to a magistrate’s court). (By NoiseNuisance.org)

Food Safety: Scottish botulism outbreak report published
Health Protection Scotland, on behalf of the Incident Management Team, have published the final report into an outbreak of foodborne botulism in Scotland in November 2011.
Food Safety: Thorpe-on-the-Hill restaurant fined for multiple food hygiene infringements
NKDC has successfully prosecuted the owners of a Thorpe-on-the-Hill food premises for offences under the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006.

Health & Safety: Sports club fined after two spectators injured at firework display
Cubbington Sports & Social Club Ltd has been fined £5,000 after pleading “guilty” to two health and safety offences at a Magistrates’ Court hearing, in the Warwickshire Justice Centre on 2 August 2012. Prosecuting Warwick District Council were awarded full costs of £4,353 (Video Embedded).

Two Sheffield landlords have been handed suspended jail sentences after dangerous defects were found on every gas appliance at a house they rented out to a young woman.

Hillingdon Council has scored another court victory as it continues its battle against illegal back garden homes and rogue landlords.
