Ministers have announced plans to scrap or overhaul over 3,000 regulations that are claimed to place an unnecessary burden on some businesses. Housing: Birmingham City Council prosecutes unlawful landlord
Birmingham City Council has successfully prosecuted a landlord who failed to obtain a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Licence from the council.

Housing: Renters oppose longer tenancy contracts
A recent report on the affordable housing market recommended increasing the length of tenancy contracts in the UK from six months to 24 months. But an overwhelming 82% of flat and house-sharers are opposed to the move, according to a poll carried out by flat and house share website SpareRoom.co.uk.
