2. Health & Safety: Tesco to pay over £59,000 for two serious accidents
The action follows investigations of 2 serious accidents at the Tesco’s Beaumont Leys Store. The first involved a member of the public (Angela Pownall) being hit whilst shopping in the store, by a pallet truck that was being pulled by a Tesco’s employee. 3. Food Safety: HPA Study shows poor hygiene practices at mobile food vendors
Research from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that food, water, chopping boards, cleaning cloths and security wristbands sampled from mobile and outdoor food vendors were contaminated with a range of bacteria including E.coli. This bacteria, which originates from human or animal faeces indicates either poor hygiene, undercooking or cross-contamination in the kitchen.
4. Housing: Case Summary – Islington LBC v Unite Group Plc
This Case Summary outlines a recent judgement that considered whether a five-storey block of purpose built self-contained flats required a HMO licence. The building contained a shop to the ground floor and a number of self contained flats in multiple occupation to the upper four floors (by Mike Warren).

A Leeds landlord has felt the heat after being fined over £9,000 for consistently ignoring fire safety warnings from the council on a privately rented property.
